      Yeh I've been fancying 'modifying' that bank for some time, but she's not up for it. Usually comes round once I've dug it out and she can see what I was wittering about, but no vision when it comes to actually seeing what could be, with a lot of what's been dug so far.

      Not quite so easy now, with a shed in the way and would liked to have battered it off a bit more first, but she wasn't having it'!!
      I fancy it's slumping quietly!! so might come to it yet!!

      • No sooner got the gear out this morning and a flashing sat in place and ...... it pee-ed down.



        Bit of head-scratching and discussion as to what was going to look the best and it was marked, off, on the bench and out came the snips.
        Oh for a joggler .... but some pliers and some well aimed hammer blows later, it was cut and turned back.



        Looked OK up too!!



        Both done and stitched in place for now with some Teks – too bloody wet to go draggin’ the leads and Dewalt out for half a dozen fixings ... Manyana job, when it ain’t so soggy.





        I’d have gotten a lot further, if it hadn’t been so pissy wet and hadn’t had a visit from Mr Monaro, for two hours – haven’t seen Doug in a while and he was well impressed with the new mower stable.
        Wants t’ know when we’re starting his!!?

        So two more for t’other end and then the ridge – tin work done !!

        • In spite of a dismal forecast this morning, and a very foggy start to the day, it didn’t turn out too bad and I managed some more progress today.

          Front end flashings duly measured up and sussed, the one being a bit of a PITA round the doorway .....





          ...... but got ‘em on and turned my attention to the ridge flashings.

          Great view ....... and access, off the ‘flying pallet’, courtesy of the ‘Drema and VA-r ......



          Bit of a stretch for the far end .....



          Eventually got it all on and stitched with some Teks for today, ready for a run down the length both sides with the ‘full house’ purlin fixings, off the ladder.







          Only just managed it in time to avoid a drowning, as the skies opened and that was the end of the action, for today !!

          • Forgot to mention ...... had yet another hour's interruption mid-afternoon ..... a good one though.
            My neighbour who wants my spoil, (sorry soil !!), came round to show me where he'd like me to kick off with the filling process - hell he's got a hole that'd take half the county, let alone my dig
            If I can't fit it all in there he's several more too ........ Happy Days !!

                • Persisted down here ‘til ‘bout half twelve this morning and didn’t think there was going to be anything done today, other than a trip to town for the shopping and pick up a couple of bits ‘n pieces, from a mates place, that I’ve had sat waiting for collection. He’s just sold his workshop and has to be out at the end of the month, so it has to be done, but ...... not answering his phone !!

                  So whilst I was waiting his return, I thought I’d have a look at what arrived yesterday.

                  Knock at the door half six last night ..... a carrier and his mate with a large box, much to my surprise, as I wasn’t expecting to see this ‘til next week and it was a tad late for a delivery !! So opened up ‘the new shed’ and we slung it in there for the night!!

                  Anyway, I was discussing these with Ruben, on t'other one, a while back and eventually decided to go for the bigger unit. Not a fan of direct drive units and having read lots of reviews on these, this was a MUCH quieter unit, with better, faster and higher out put, for not a hell of a lot more.
                  Amazon beat Fleabay by a good 50 quid too !

                  Not a huge fan of this sort of ‘budget type’ gear, as a rule, but for the occasional use that I want it for, it should be fine and will beat cranking up my diesel one, for the occasional requirement.

                  Now yer all wondering WTF I’m on about .......








                  Forgot to get one with the wheels bolted to the feet, but have to say I am well pleased with this little unit for the bucks.
                  14cfm, 150psi, 3Hp motor, single phase and damn me doesn’t it ever make air.
                  I was expecting the claimed/advertised 14 cfm to be more like half, but I suppose in these days of TDA, if yer claim it, it has to ‘do what it says on the tin’!!

                  Quiet is an under-statement ..... I was amazed, having been used to my old commercial, can’t hear yerself think, units in work for years – admittedly 45cfm units, but !!!!!!

                  All in all I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with it and it’ll be real nice to have air on demand, at the flick of a switch, rather than cranking up me diesel one and peeing off the neighbours with it ...... it’s loud –big cfm, but LOUD!!

                  Only complaint was it had those stubby QCs on it, not PCLs, so I’ll have to change them, as all my stuff is on the longer PCL connectors – Luckily I had a male to make an adapter with, to give it a try. Might pick up another tomorrow to make a second with and just leave them plugged into the outlets on it, with PCLs attached!

                  So ...... stuck it away, after filling my air bottles and eventually got a hold of John, my mate in town, who wasn’t up for a visit today/preferred tomorrow, so the trip to town was off and the day was disappearing fast.

                  Hauled out the kit and thought I’d get the temporary Teks out of the flashings and replaced with full house fixings, as it’d dried up considerably, by now and it would at least be forward progress.

                  Was quite surprised that I managed to get the whole of one side done, including getting the foam fillets into the ridge flashing, as I went, in two hours.

                  I’d asked the supplier what sort of centres he recommended for these sheets and although I thought his “every other corrugation, top and bottom” was overkill, stuck with his advice .... lorra screws, but it ain’t gonna blow off, for sure ..... an’ we get the wind up here, in some order.
                  Too dim for a pic tonight, by the time I’d tidied up, but it looked OK.

                  Can’t go to Johns ‘til after lunch/early afternoon tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll have t’other side wrapped up in the morning, too.

                  Guttering next, after the 48 cover strips!!

                  • Yet another soggy start to the day this morning, so took the towers down round the shed to make use of the daylight and loaded me cherry barrel into the trailer for a trip into Johns after lunch.

                    It looks alright with the towers gone and will be even better with the covers/trims in place.





                    Eventually got to Johns and ‘hiding under a cover’ was his trike he’d built a while ago, which I’d never seen before, although I’d made him quite a few bits for it, when he was putting it together
                    Particularly liked the logo on the mudguard ......



                    Not one I’d seen/heard before !!

                    Mr Rover’s finest V8 ....... it sounded lovely and was such a sweet, quiet lump !!

                    • Foggy ol’ start to Saturday, but did eventually burn off to reveal a clear blue sky hiding above it.
                      Another fiddly bits session, swapping Teks for fixings and fitting some o’ those cover strips ....





                      Some altitude needed for some of the Teks and got a few in the end panel of the roof cladding, as far as I could reach ...



                      .... both ends, ‘til the light beat me as usual.
                      Looking alright though with the covers on – going to have to make some ‘L’ shaped corner pieces, as I feel it looks unfinished at the corners.




                      This morning was even foggier than yesterday and could see the sun was tryin’ it’s best, but it never made it through and failed to ‘burn it off’ today, so been a dank ol’ day.

                      Got all the fixings in the backside of the roof and found those two elusive screws I’ve been looking for .... the last one in the roof .... and the last one in the trim covers on the back wall !!
                      Not the greatest of pix tonight ....... bit ‘foggy’ !!!



                      Couldn’t even see the neighbour’s house at times today .......



                      Livin’ the dream with a sumptuous lunch .......

                      Nice coffee, bag o’ roast chicken crisps and a slice of Pam’s GF jam sponge – what more could you want for a Sunday lunch ?!!
                      Can’t work on a full stomach ........ an’ this certainly wasn’t gonna fill it !!

                      And for those who’re suffering withdrawal, a bit of ‘Drema porn, trying to hide in the fog!!



                      Bucket on the VA-r in the morning and sort out the levels in front of the shed doors, dig it down, get 6” of planings in there and sort out some of the softer bits that have shown up with all the recent tracking about.

                      • Well anyone’d think that these three had had a tough day today!



                        You’d think they’d been helping me hump this lot off two very knackered pallets and onto some more substantial ones



                        Been clearing out the miscellaneous ‘crud’ from the far end of the shed, ready to give the ground a little attention with the bucket and some stone, before I take the forks off.

                        ‘Drema humped ‘em out of there .......


                        And three pallet loads of stone too.



                        Did tend to make her a little light in the arse though, as did the blocks, but then there is damned near a ton of VA-r (500kgs) and forks (430kgs) on there already !!

                          A longer toe’d also help too – job for anon!! Just about managed, with the current toe.

                          Quietly getting the hang of this twisty, turny contraption, but hell it takes some thinking about .... as I said before .... serious respect!!



                          Had half an hour with the roller as it was getting dark, so ..... see what it looks like in the a.m. !!

                          The lumps have done my swede today ......... completely !!!!!

                          • Well it pissed down here today – real good rolling wevver!! LOL

                            Two hours and I was knackered – then the bloody thing stopped in the most inconvenient of places!!!

                            Felt a tad warm so left it cool off and it went OK – reckon she was nipping up.
                            Swinging that’ll be the death of me...... got a chainsaw type powered nut runner thingy somewhere – might see if I can create an adapter to get that to swing her – bloody sight easier pulling that to start it than swinging the ol’ girl !!





                            Lookin’ better than before I started – now need another inch or so of some decent stuff and ‘praps 2 in front of the shed to top off with!!
                            Anyone tried mixing in some cement dust? Wondered if it’d improve the surface set?

                            Have used quarry dust before now when I did my yard in work went off a treat and hard as ......

                            Bit of a 'bucket catastrophe earlier - bar stewards shut me down and kidnapped all me pix - 20 quid ransome .... for a years sub to 30gb storage and unlimited band width .......... hope you lot appreciate it

                            • Round here they spray the top layer of road planing with red diesel,then roll them in. Best on a nice hot summers day though!

                                Too many land drains and water courses round here to risk cherry on 'em Andrew

                                I'd get strung up, if it ended up in any of 'em and the cost of a clean up'd ruin me
