  • Crane falls on Hospital

Well at least they were close to medical attention if required.

Patients are still inside the coronary care and medical ward wing of The Valley Private Hospital underneath the crane, but chief executive Neil Henderson said everyone was safe.

"The crane has toppled over and is resting on the roof, but it's supported by steel beams,’’ Mr Henderson told the Waverley Leader.
"People in the ward are in no danger.
"It looks quite spectacular, but it looks worse than it is."
WorkSafe and structural engineers have assessed the situation, with the hospital running as normal apart from the temporary closure of a new cath lab.
Mr Henderson said the crane had fallen an hour ago while moving steel into the new lab as part of the hospital’s $30 million redevelopment.
