Of particular use for people quantifying simple ground works are these references

      Earth, loam, dry, excavated 1249
      Earth, moist, excavated 1442
      Earth, wet, excavated 1602
      Earth, dense 2002
      Earth, soft loose mud 1730
      Earth, packed 1522

The common perception is that a cube of earth weighs 1 ton ... not so ... also ... as stated on this forum elsewhere a single cube of earth dug out expands by one third in volume (on average) when excavated
Please don't PM me for plant advice.. thanks .. Post in the forum where I will gladly help, as will many of our contributors.. as the info and responses will help everyone else, which is why we exist
