  • Ec 20 attachment hydraulic setup

    Hi all!
I just found this forum here and i love it!

I have a question regarding my Volvo ec 20 type 263 built in 2001.

I recently baught it from The company where i am working but it got its attachment lines disassembled as they were never used.

Now i have this mini digger and i installed the attachment hydraulic lines.

The question is : how do i adjust the pressure and flow for them? It hast 2 ways ( 2 lines ) and a 3rd line which goes to the tank.

I know the machine can bring 210 bar of pressure max and 43l/min.

The attachment hydraulic is feed by 2 Pumps together p2 and p3 ( each brings 21,5l/min )

Is it possible to adjust just the hydraulic without losing power on the other functions?

I need to attach a hammer which can handle 150bar max of pressure.

I see the hydraulic valve where the footpedal is attached... is there a valve i can adjust just for this valve in the block?

If so - can i attach a manometer on the block ( it has a minimeß fitting in the middle on top ) and adjust it somewhere?
I dont want to kill the hammer with too much pressure.

    Thanks a lot

    Daniel

I cant remember how they were set up, I think aux 1 shares with boom offset at least, If you adjust the MRV that controls the aux you will find it will also alter the other services, IIRC it might be the dozer. In practice I never needed to, the pressures and flow were good enough to run anything I had, .... I owned 25's,30's and a 35 and all were fine as they were
Please don't PM me for plant advice.. thanks .. Post in the forum where I will gladly help, as will many of our contributors.. as the info and responses will help everyone else, which is why we exist

      Thank you Muz,

can i measure on top of the Valve for the Aux the pressure?
I just baught a minimess fitting and i want to attach it on top of the AUX Valve - this should show me the pressure for the Aux correct? Or will it show the total pressure on all blocks ?

Aux Shares P2 Right track and Boom cylinder
Aux Shares P3 Left track and arm cylinder and bucket cylinder.

P2+P2 = Aux that says my manual.. but the manual is poorly translated into german ( Original Volvo Service Manual )

so I Managed to adjust the aux pressure.

It was set to 180 and i reduced it to 140 for the hydraulic hammer which supports 150 bar MAX. so its on the safe side.

i hooked up a "HFM MKR 3/8" Minimess Fitting into the Hole in the middle of the Aux Valve.

After that i measured the 180 Bar when pushing the footpedal.
i hooked another Minimess Fitting into the 2nd Valve from the front ( which is mentioned in the Service Manual ) and it was too 180 bars. - can i let the minimess fitting inside of this valve ? there was a screw with a spring inside,.. is it safe to let the minimess fitting inside ? Or do i have to set the screw back ?

After that i unscrewed the Valve lock nut on the left side und put a hex bit in it and turned it counter clock wise until i got 180 bars.

Now the bucket has 140 bars and the aux too.
When i am done with the hammer i will hook it up back to 180 bars.

But i have another question for the hydraulic specialists.

The Hydraulic accumulator ( at least this is the name in the part programm for this digger ) makes sometimes a lot of noise - this noise is there since i have the machine.

Sometimes its gone - sometimes its there all the time,..
When i put the Shiled in to the middle - the noise is mostly gone,.. sometimes not,....
sometimes the noise is gone and when you put down the left handsupport to activate the hydraulics - its immediately there.

I was hoping that it is air and i changed the whole hydraulic fluid including the filter and everything but the noise is still there...

Any sullotions to get rid of that noise ? Is it air ? is there a way to get the air out of the accumuilator ?

heres a youtube vid i shot today

So it turned out when iam letting the minimess fitting inside - the arm keeps falling down when i gently Touch the joystick to lift up... after i put the cap with the spring back - it did not fall down when i gently touch the joystick!

So i now need the propper pressure limiting valve for the extra hydraulic... i k ow its a bosch rexroth block - but does any one know which one it is? And what valve i would need to limit the pressure ?
It is under the volvo part number

              VOE11806085

              Thank you.

                Just for further Information:

I managed to get rid of that ugly noise!

Its from the pressure valve on the accumulator.

                The seals are no. 8 ( 1x ) and no. 9 ( 2x ) from this illustration:
                https://avspare.com/catalog/vprosis/10004/914:200/

                Seal no 8 PJ4040188 ( you need 1 of this o-ring
                Seal no 9 PJ4040217 ( you need 2 of those flat o-rings)

It sits beneath the Label "T" on the accumulator block.
its a 27 mm Wrench size.

I put the driver seat out and released all the hydraulic pressure by turning the ignition on and use all joysticks and even drivemotor etc,.. just used all several times,..

Then i unscrewed the 27mm Screw which is the top one,.. facing towards the shield .

Be carefull : the spring will come out too, so don´t loose it!

Now i had to use a magnet to get the valve out where the seals sits on.

Its a good job to have something to cover up that hole as the oil will leak out quiet a lot,...

anyway i got the 3 seals out and pushed 1 no 9. Flat o-ring carefully on the valve as it is a very VERY tight fit - so dont damage it,.. take your time and lube everyhting good so it can get to the groove where it belongs to sit.
Then a no 8. Seal and again a no. 9 Seals on it.

after that i cleaned everything again with brake cleaner and lubed it again,.,. i pushed the valve back in to the hole and rotated it with my finger untill it seats where it belongs - you feel it if it sits,...

then the cap with the spring back on and your done,... dont forget to fill up your oil level!

                Cheers!
